Express & Star, Matthew Street, Moore Street, South Staffordshire Regiment, Westbury Street, William Walters
The son of James and Eliza Walters, William was born in Wolverhampton in 1887. In 1891, they were living at Moore Street, Wolverhampton, along with William’s siblings, James and Florence. They were living at 64 Matthew Street by 1901. William married Mary A. Gallagher in Wolverhampton in 1910,, and they were living together at 20 Westbury Street, Wolverhampton by 1911. William was working as an edge tool bobber.
William enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment (service number 11642). He was listed in the Express & Star as wounded on 10 February 1917. However, he appears to have survived his wounds. I have been unable to confirm exactly when he died, but it was certainly after the end of the First World War.
