Robert was born on 29 September 1918 in Walsall, the son of Walter and Dora Boyd. In 1939, they were living in 38 Wells Road, Penn, Wolverhampton, along with Robert’s siblings Margaret and Alfred J. Robert was working as a Sergeant in the RAF (service number 754178).
Robert served as a Flying Officer (Pilot) with the 41 Squadron of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (service number 126765), flying a Spitfire. Unfortunately he was killed while on war service on 6 September 1943. He is buried in the Grandcourt War Cemetery in France.
