The son of Henry and Mercy Blanton, Harry was born in Wolverhampton on 18 March 1893. He was christened on 16 April 1893 at St Stephen’s Church, Willenhall. In 1901, they were living at 6 New Street, Portobello, Wolverhampton, along with Harry’s sisters Ethel and Marian. By 1911, they were living at 85 Mount Pleasant, Bilston, and Harry had become a grocer’s assistant.
Harry enlisted first with the Lincolnshire Regiment (service number 46050) and later with the North Staffordshire Regiment (number 32771).
He survived the war, and married Eva M. Slater in Walsall in 1921. The couple had a son, Eric, in Wolverhampton in 1928. By 1939, Harry and Eva lived on Villiers Avenue, Bilston, and Harry was a branch manager for a retail grocer. Harry died in Wolverhampton in 1970.
