Daniel was born in Wolverhampton in 1889, the son of Elijah and Sarah Turley. In 1901 they were living at 86 Shepherd Street, Wolverhampton, along with Daniel’s siblings Joseph, Albert, William, Elizabeth, Fred and Jack. Daniel married Agnes Bertha Hughes in Wolverhampton in 1909, and they were living with their son, John Norman, at 1 Mason Street, Wolverhampton, in 1911. Daniel was now a tram conductor. They later had two daughters – Elsie M. (1911) and Molly G. (1913).
Daniel enlisted with the 2nd Water Tank Company, Mechanical Transport, in the Army Service Corps as a Private (service number M2/101474). He died on 15 November 1918 in France. He is buried at the Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France.
