Harold was born in Wolverhampton in 1877, the son of John and Sarah F. Acutt. In 1899, he married Emma Jane Triggs in Camberwell. By 1911, they were living in Small Heath, Birmingham, with their daughter, Doris Christina. Harold was working as a painting and linotype operator.
Harold enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps (number DM2/196202), and became an Acting Lance Corporal. Unfortunately he died on 18 April 1917at Christ Church VAD Hospital in Beckenham. He is buried at Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery in Kent. The value of his effects was £199 5s.
