Albert was born in Wolverhampton in 1890, the son of Arthur and Mary Ann Henson. In 1901, they were living in Charles Street, Wolverhampton, along with Albert’s brother, George. Albert’s father died in 1902, so by 1911, he was living with George and his widowed mother at 23 Cannock Road, Wolverhampton. Albert had become a locksmith. Later that year, Albert married Annie Phillips in Wolverhampton, and the couple had two children, Albert H. (1913) and Violet L. (1915).

Albert enlisted in the 1st/6th Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment (number 4515). He first served in France from 10 February 1915, but was killed in action on 21 February 1917. He is buried at Berles New Military Cemetery.
