Cyril was born in 1887 in Solihull, the son of Alfred Thomas and Mary Alice Littleford. In 1891, Cyril was visiting the home of David Jeavons at The Dimminsdale, Bushbury Road, Heath Town, Wednesfield, Wolverhampton. In 1901 and in 1911, he and his parents were living in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, and Cyril was an assistant in business. Cyril later spent some time in British Guiana working on sugar plantations, before returning to Liverpool in July 1915.
Cyril enlisted at Wolverhampton as a Gunner in the 175th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery (number 39184). However, he died in Ripon Military Hospital on 26 August 1915, having never served overseas. His entry in the Army Register of Soldiers’ Effects, detailed the money owed to his next of kin (in this case is mother), include the words “Inadmissible. Insufficient service”. Cyril is buried at Ripon Cemetery in Yorkshire.
