David was born in about 1882 in Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire, the son of Samuel and Emily Jones. By 1891 they were living in Willenhall, and were at 98 Deans Road, Heath Town, Wolverhampton, by 1901. David had become a brick layer. By 1911, David was living with his widowed mother and brother, Thomas Boundford, at 168 Willenhall Road, Moseley Village, Wolverhampton.
David enlisted first in the Highland Light Infantry (number 8988) and later in the 1st Battalion of the King’s Own Scottish Borderers (number 19040). He first served in the Balkans from 25 May 1915. He was killed in action in the Dardanelles on 28 June 1915. He is remembered on the Helles Memorial in Turkey.
