gloverIsaiah was born in Bradley, Bilston, in 1891, the son of Edwin and Julia Glover. In 1901, he was living at 36 Stoke Street, Daisy Bank, near Bilston, Bradley, together with his parents, and siblings John Henry, Edwin, George Frederick, Mary Ann and Sarah Ann. His father died in 1907, so he was living with his widowed mother and siblings at the same address in 1911. He had become a galvaniser, although the census entry stated “unemployed” next to his trade. Isaiah married Lizzie North in Dudley in 1913, and they had two daughters, Evelyn (1914) and Lizzie (1915).

In November 1914, Isaiah enlisted with the 6th Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment (service number 13544), and served in the Mediterranean. He was killed in action on 7 August 1915 at Gallipoli. He is remembered on the Helles Memorial in Turkey. News of his death appeared in the Express & Star on 9 September 1915, by which date his wife’s address was given as 35 Brewery Lane, Bradley.
