Ernest was born in Wolverhampton in 1878, the son of Edward William Taylor Jones and Harriette Critchley Jones. In 1911, they were living at 141 Penn Road, Wolverhampton, along with Ernest’s sister Constance Maude. Ernest was an assistant public analyst. Edward married Muriel Eileen Warman on 27 September 1911 in Painswick, Gloucestershire.
Ernest was 36 when war broke out in 1914, and he does not appear to have served in the army. However, he did serve as a Special Constable for Wolverhampton Borough Council during this period. Ernest and his wife had two children born in Wolverhampton – Cassandra (1913) and Bridget (1916). Ernest died in Lichfield in 1957.
