Charles was born in Willenhall in 1889, the son of Daniel and Mary Ann Wolverson. His father died in 1892, and his mother apparently remarried to a Frederick Woolridge, although I have been unable to find a record of this marriage. Charles was living with his mother and step-father at 114 Field Street, Willenhall in 1901. Charles was a socket maker in the tube trade by 1911.
Charles appears on the Penn Road war memorial as a local man who served during the First World War, but survived, but I have been unable to find a record of his military service. Charles married Hilda Bertha Booker in Wolverhampton in 1921. They had four children – Thomas F. (1922), Ethel H. A. (1925), Olive M. (1928) and Alfred J. (1936). Charles died in 1949 in Smethwick.
