This is another man tracked down as a result of our recent appeal for help.

Andrew Hale was born in Wigan in 1892, the son of Thomas and Gertrude Hale. By 1901, they were living at 11 Priestfield Road, Bilston, along with Andrew’s brother, Thomas. By 1911, they had moved to 6 Rough Hills, Ettingshall. Andrew was a fence maker. In 1913, Andrew married Betsy Davis in Wolverhampton

Andrew served with the 241st Brigade of the Royal Horse Artillery (service number 2503). He died of wounds on 28 June 1916, and is remembered at the Couin British Cemetery in France, as well as on the Bilston Priestfield Roll of Honour.
