Ernest Pearson was born in Wolverhampton in 1892, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Pearson. In 1901, the family were living at 35 Peel Street, Wolverhampton, and the household consisted of Ernest, his parents, and siblings Joseph Henry, William O., Lilly, Harry, John Francis, Elsie, Ethel, Norman and Edward J. By 1911, his parents, Elsie, Ethel, Edward and additional sibling Beatrice, were living at 15 Wood Street, Lanesfield, but Ernest did not appear alongside them. He was already with the 2nd Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment (number 8868) at Whittington Barracks.

Ernest was awarded the Military Medal, as printed in the London Gazette on 16 July 1918. Unfortunately, Ernest died on 12 November 1918, and is commemorated at the Caudry British Cemetery in France.
