Cecil was born in Wolverhampton on 31 March 1886, and was baptised on 13 Jun 1886 at St Andrew’s Church, Wolverhampton. The son of Emmanuel Theodore and Sarah Ann Jones, they were living at 13 Gorsebrook Road, Wolverhampton in 1901, along with Cecil’s brother Walter T. and sister, Alice M. The 14-year-old Cecil was already working as a store keeper for the electric works. By 1911, they were at 82 Lowe Street, and Cecil had become a shop clerk.
Cecil’s name was included in the Midland Counties Express on 5 September 1914 as one of the men who were willing to sign up with the Special Service Companies. However, I have not been able to confirm details of his military service, as there are a number of possibilities. He survived the war and married Lily Prior in Wolverhampton in 1931. The couple had two children – Thomas J. in 1944 and Jacqueline V. in 1954. Cecil died in Wolverhampton in 1963.
