The son of William and Eliza Brookfield, Harold was born in Wolverhampton on 23 October 1893, and was christened at St Andrew’s on 24 December the same year. By 1901 they were living at 6 Great Hampton Street, Wolverhampton, together with Harold’s sister Maria.
Harold enlisted in the 9th Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment (number 25074). He was killed in action at Mesopotamia on 15 December 1916. This was noted in the Express & Star on 12 January 1917. He is commemorated on the Basra Memorial in Iraq.
