William was born in Wolverhampton in 1887, but I have not been able to find him on subsequent censuses. He married Dora Cox in Wolverhampton in 1912, and they had a son, William, in 1913. He worked at Harper’s Brewery in Bilston.
In January 1915, he became a Lance Corporal with the 2nd Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment (service number 16766). He died on 22 July 1915 at Givenchy. By the time of his death, his wife was living at 60 Wolverhampton Street, Bilston. He was featured in the Midland Counties Express on 28 August 1915. He is commemorated at the Woburn Abbey Cemetery, Cuinchy.
