Charles was born in Wolverhampton on 28 December 1896, the son of Charles Henry and Eliza Vickery. In 1901 they were living at No 4 Court, Upper Vauxhall, with Charles’s sister, Edith. Eliza Vickery died in 1903. By 1911 they had moved to 10 Coronation Road, Heath Town, and Charles had a brother, John. His father remarried an Annie M. Burden in 1919.
I have not been able to confirm details of Charles’s military service, but the fact that there is a C. H. Vickery listed on the Weldless Steel Tube Company Ltd roll of honour indicates firstly that he worked there before the War and also that he did serve.
He survived the war and married Winifred V. Small in Wolverhampton in 1938. They do not appear to have had any children. Charles died in Wolverhampton in 1977.
