Richard Biddlestone was born in Wolverhampton in 1894, the son of Richard and Emma Biddlestone. In 1901 he was living at 11 Park Street, Wolverhampton, together with his parents, brother Samuel and sisters Emma and Jennie.

Richard became a Private in the 8th Battalion of the East Yorkshire Regiment (service number 14415). He died on 17 November 1915, and is commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial in Southampton. This memorial commemorates those with no known grave, such as those lost at sea, including those lost on the hospital ship HMHS Anglia, which sunk on 17 November 1915. Given the date, it is likely that Richard was one of the men lost on board. If anybody has any more information to back this up, we would really appreciate it!
